Bridal Alterations
*   When should I call to schedule my bridal dress fitting?
We like to have 4 to 6 months from the first fitting to the completion of your wedding gown alterations.  Call to schedule your first bridal fitting when you purchase your dress.  Do not wait until your dress arrives.  During the busiest part of the bridal season, we can get booked out quite far, so it is advisable to plan ahead.

*   What do I need to bring to my fitting appointment?
You MUST bring the shoes you will to wear with your wedding dress, and any special foundation garments, such as Spanx, bra, and bustier.  We do have cups size A, B, C, and D, that we can sew in for you if you choose to not wear a bra.
PLEASE NOTE:  If you change to a different bra or foundation garment, or wear a different height shoes, after we have done the fitting and sewing, your dress will fit differently.  Changing the type of foundations significantly changes the fit, just as changing the height of shoes affects the proper hem length.

*   How long do bridal alterations generally take and how many fittings?
We generally take 6 to 12 weeks to complete your bridal alterations.  Typically we schedule 2 to 4 fittings, depending upon the particular dress and what alterations need to be done.

*   How much will my alterations cost?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to give a quote over the phone or in an email.  Every bridal dress is different in its complexity or simplicity of construction,  the extent of the special handling of certain fabrics, lace and/or beaded fabric, as an example, and the extent of the gown alterations.  If you wish, you may schedule a consultation, at which time we can see the wedding dress on you, and more accurately determine the cost.  While there are circumstances that can increase the cost,  the average cost for bridal gown alterations is  generally between $500 to $975, and  in some cases, the cost can be upwards of $1300 to $1800 due to complexity of dress construction, type of fabric and alterations necessary.

*   Can you restyle my vintage or heirloom dress?
Yes, we can restyle vintage dresses, family heirloom wedding gowns.  In addition, we can restyle the wedding dress you just purchased, if it is not quite what you had envisioned.  Please be aware that if the bridal store told you that 'such and such' can be changed or altered, though well-meaning, they are not professional seamstresses and as such do not know what actually can and can not be done.  We will be happy to schedule a consultation so we may discuss your options.

*   Is it possible to restyle the wedding gown I bought, such as change the neckline, or add sleeves, or turn a zippered back into a corset back, etc.?
In most cases, yes, we can restyle your wedding dress, as well as make a too large or too small dress fit.  However, if additional fabric is needed to accomplish the wedding dress restyling, know that finding an exact match in fabric is nearly impossible.  At a consultation, we can discuss the possibilities for your bridal gown.

*   Do you bustle wedding gowns?
Yes, we can bustle your wedding dress.  While there are several different ways to bustle, we generally 'let the dress tell us what it wants', in order to maintain a visual aesthetic of the wedding dress.

*   How much does it cost to restyle my bridal dress?
The price of restyling a wedding dress is dependent upon what we are doing.  If you are interested in restyling a wedding dress, we suggest you make an appointment for a consultation, at which time we can talk about your design ideas and vision, and about pricing.

*   What is your policy on payment for services?
We initially take a $150 deposit over the phone when you make your first bridal fitting appointment.  This deposit is applied to your alterations cost.  If, in the event you choose not to use our services, we promptly refund your deposit, provided we are given cancelation notice no less than 3 weeks from the scheduled date of your first fitting.
When we meet for the first fitting, we require a third to a half of the total cost.  If there are additional fittings, we require a percentage of the remaining balance, and then full payment upon pick up of the dress.  We accept cash, Visa or MasterCard.

*   Do you make bridal veils?
Yes, we can custom make a bridal veil for you.  In our shop we have several styles to choose from, and of course, we can design a veil that matches your vision.

*   What other sewing services do you offer?
While we are primarily a bridal design and alterations shop, we also alter and restyle men's and women's every day garments, as well as garments for work.  Whether you want your jeans hemmed, a duvet made, or need your clothing resized after a weight change, we can do it.

We would love to help you realize your dream wedding dress!  Please call so we can begin the process.
